Lady Conchs High School Soccer!
Game time 6 p.m. @ Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium!
Follow up after the game!
Chilly....yet enjoyable!
Is there something to look forward to in the near future involving the Lady Conchs soccer team?
Having missed the previous game which the Girls won by yet another Mercy Rule decision (3) and a score of 9:1, I was hoping to see a soccer match tonight.
And so I did.
It appeared to be nothing more than an intensive practice match the Lady Conchs were playing.
Their playing time on the short and narrow Backyard field seemed to have improved the one-touch game tremendously and the understanding between blocks of players has become a near blind understanding that we actually saw the ball doing the work instead of the Girls just chasing the ball.
One player caught my eyes for the first time. Her confidence and understanding of the game as she showed Monday Night was a giant step above the previous games I watched her play.
#13 is printed on her jersey, Kara Haak is written on the score keeper's sheet frequently. Not afraid to take shots from outside the box, nor afraid of taking on defensive players One on One and then calmly pushing the ball over the line, what I noticed most during this game was her keen eye and sense to push the ball into the open space for one of her team mates. In my eyes she's a dream sweeper with an unquenchible desire to drive the offensive midfieders and forwards towards the opponents goal.
Ballmovement was a pleasure to watch and it was the first time it showed that these young players are getting to understand the game of soccer as movement without the ball has picked up to another level. It was a promising start towards the end of the season and if these girls can now adjust to "Space and Time" on the larger field of Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium, I'm looking forward to a long and extented season.
A season our Senior Players will love to recall!
