Here's finally an article about the obvious lack of playing fields in Key West for team sports.
How un-cooperative School Board Members and City Officials are in their quest to solve this problem. Read this article... it's worth it.

This just in
Coach Scott Paul of the Lady Conchs just informed me about how their first round game went vs. Miami Jackson! The Game was over 3 minutes after the start of the seccond half as the Lady Conchs just got another "Mercy Rule" victory, 8:0!
Let's welcome them back and wish the team and their 'nervous' Coach all the best for the upcoming games.
Congratulations!

Setanta’s Likely Demise Will Be a Dark Day For Soccer Fans in US | EPL Talk
Less to do with the active life and sport in Key West, but certainly will affect where to go and meet to watch the games!
And there's just about a half a year left for the opening game of the World Cup.

Get last night's High School Soccer scores - a convincing W in the girls and boys teams column.
The win last night by the HS Kicking Conchs was especially sweet as they had lost 1:2 in the first meeting and remember those stunned faces.
How does one get enough game practice when a team can only play 1 half, then second half is called due to the Mercy Rule?
11:0 looks quite good for only 45 minutes. And since the rules say at least 1 half of the game has to be played, I challenge the girls to top that score.

The past 2 season I wondered how long the KW High School will keep their Volleyball team, or rather how many girls will sign up for the program, but it soon proved to be an irrelevant question as the girls do love their sport and that winning isn't everything.
Now the young team under Coach Jessy Hulme are on their way to become a competetive team and their first big test will come on Thursday against Mater Academy.

Having to work on the Laptop the last several days did not make life any easier, though by the weekend my workstation should be up and running again. I just hate that "BLUE" screen on the monitor.

EUROPEAN CUP WOMEN:
GERMANY vs. ENGLAND Final on Thursday!
Not quite sure how many actually follow the Women's European Cup, but I certainly enjoy it.
This match appears to have more signifance than the World Cup Qualifiers of the Men's teams the day before, as many of the teams expected to go through will make it in my humble opinion.
Although only Holland, or Netherland if you prefer, have clinched their spot for next years World Cup in South Africa.
Back to the Women's Final on Thursday.
Can Germany take the Crown again against an excellent English team?

Miami's Soccer Locker team to visit Key West!
AC Key West's Boca Seniors team is hosting their annual friendly vs. the Soccer Locker of Miami on Saturday, July 25.
These games were revived in May of last year after most of the players had just about enough of soccer on our Island. A celebration though of one of the Founding Fathers' birthday brought the oldtimers back together and they soon realized how much more fun it is to be playing again instead of just watching the Premier League or the Bundesliga on TV.
Kick-Off will be at 6 p.m. at the H.O.B. Soccer Field. Both teams will be gathering to a banquet as this tradition from the early days of the "friendly Rivalry" was kept up through Michael Andersen, team captain and sponsor of the Key West Club.
The public is invited to join the 2 teams, NO Admission.
To attend the Banquet an invite is required and a $20.- cover charge is necessary to cover the cost of the event. Hope to see you at the field. A meeting will be held at SHANNA KEY on Wednesday, July 22, at 8 p.m. after the weekly scrimmage game.
More info will be available at this link!
